Davidson's and Rutherford's predictions about economic collapse and the return of the saints in the 1950s never happened and faith in their theories began to diminish. In 1952 Martin Gardner published Fads & Fallacies in the Name of Science which refuted all pyramidology and helped turn public opinion against the pseudo-science. Rutherford and Davidson fought until the end but a meeting between them was initiated by Commander Donald MacMillan. However, David Davidson's death of throat cancer (died in Royal Masonic Hospital) ended any reconciliation between the two. David Davidson's prediction for the start of the Millenium on Sept 17th, 2001 also never happened. After the death of Rutherford and Davidson pyramidology all but disappeared and is only held on to by some Russellites and Christian Identity sects and other small cults today. However, pyramidology lasted a century and at its height it was infused into almost all the esoteric cults of the day: Mormons, Christian Science, Jehovah's Witnesses, Adventists, Freemasons, Theosophists, Christian Identity, Armstrongism, Pelleyism and the Klu Klux Klan.
